All I want for Christmas

New Items

I have listed some new items in my artfire shop. There are only 2 new scents, but 6 new candles. The scents are cherry, which is very strong like fresh picked cherries in the summer, and blue spruce, the scent of the Christmas tree on Christmas morning. The shapes of these candles are octagon, round and square. The round candle has a concave top, which gives it a different look than the usual flat top. Both scents would be a great gift for the candle lover.

This is the blue spruce scented round candle with the concave top.  It is a beautiful blue with the Christmas tree scent.

This is the cherry scented octagon candle.  It has a nice reddish/pink color.  The cherry scent is very strong.

Take a look at these candles and others listed.  They would all make great Christmas gifts for the candle lover.

Spicy

This is for all the spicy items out there. It can be a spicy scent, taste or color. As long as it has some spice to it. You can post as many as you want. The more that is posted, the better. I will post what I can on my facebook page also.

New name

It wasn't that long ago that I changed my artfire studio name from shymousee_handmade_clothes to shymouseecrafts. I had thought about doing this for some time, but finally decided to take the step when I asked for a critque and someone suggested changing my name because it was confusing. I sell mostly candles and a few other crafts. I do sell some clothes, but not much. Shymouseecrafts will give me the opportunity to sell a variety of crafts and be easier to find. It also implies I make a bunch of different crafts instead of just handmade clothes like shymousee_handmade_clothes. I am hoping this will also get me more sales because people will find me.

The scars are there forever

Even if this is not a true story, it is a wonderful illustration. -- A teacher in New York was teaching her class about bullying and gave them the following exercise to perform. She had the children take a piece of paper and told them to crumple it up, stamp on it and really mess it up but do not rip it. Then she had them unfold the paper, smooth it out and look at how scarred and dirty it was. She then told them to tell it they’re sorry. Now even though they said they were sorry and tried to fix the paper, she pointed out all the scars they left behind. And that those scars will never go away no matter how hard they tried to fix it. That is what happens when a child bully’s another child, they may say they’re sorry but the scars are there forever. The looks on the faces of the children in the classroom told her the message hit home.

This was taken from an artfire forum.  It is a very good example.

Support Handmade

It won't be long before it is Christmas. There aren't many shopping days left. Instead of waiting until the last minute to get a cheezy gift, why not support handmade this year and get a quality gift for someone on your list. Handmade items are unique and special. Since each item is handmade, there is going to be some uniqueness in each item. Support handmade this year.
